Drumvaich School

Drumvaich School was built c. 1870. The school closed in March 1943. The Schoolhouse continued to be let out by the Education Authority until 1947.

Loch Katrine School

Loch Katrine had a small school at Strone by the early 20th century to accommodate the small number of children in the area. By 1919, this school had closed owing to the difficulty of appointing a teacher. The Callander School Board noted that children in the area had no educational provision and reopened the school at Strone in September 1920. This proved not to be feasible so the school was moved to Portnellan in February 1921. There were continuing difficulties with staffing and the school closed entirely in May 1923.

Trossachs School, Brig O’Turk was built in 1875. The school closed in 2016.

Lecropt Primary School

The earliest reference to Lecropt School is found within the Lecropt Kirk Session minutes in 1727 when a proposal was made for building a school house. This was replaced in the 1820’s. Lecropt Primary School closed in 1985.

Kinbuck Primary School

Kinbuck Primary School closed in 1998 was in operation from c. 1907.

Queen Victoria School

Queen Victoria School, Dunblane, was built through subscriptions from personnel serving in the armed forces and other interested parties. The school was primarily created in memory of those who had died in the South African wars of the late 19th Century.

The school opened on 28th September 1908 by King Edward VII who also laid the foundation stone situated at the schools chapel. The school was originally only open to boys with inclusion of girls in 1996

St Mary’s Episcopal School, Dunblane, was established in the nineteenth century and originally stood in Mill Row in a house known as the“Auld Licht”. The school has been on its present site since 1850. The school transferred back to local authority control in 2003 and still operates to this day.

Croftamie Primary School

Croftamie Public School controversially opened on 2 April 1907 replacing the former Kilmaronock Public School. Protests were held by the inhabitants of Kilmaronock concerning the building of new schools. The school was closed in 1997 with pupils transferred to Drymen Primary School.
